Harms can occur when a dentist does not know their patient’s medical history and what medication their patient is on.
The dental arm of the SPSP Primary Care programme seeks to embed quality improvement processes into every day practice. We will do this by identifying areas for improvement and introducing care bundles that have been informed by national guidance to reduce adverse events and raise awareness of a safety culture among practices. Three NHS boards are participating in this 18 month collaborative:
- NHS Fife
- NHS Ayrshire and Arran; and
- NHS Dumfries and Galloway.
Three NHS boards are participating in an 18-month collaborative which launched in March 2016: NHS Fife, NHS Ayrshire & Arran, and NHS Dumfries & Galloway. Learning gained through the collaborative will be shared through local and national safety events.
Benefits of programme
Over the next year we will work with NHS Board teams and general dental practices to support the development and testing of improvement interventions in general dental practices.
