Improvement Fund 2017-2018 Awards Announcement

Published on : 22 March 2018

Healthcare Improvement Scotland’s Improvement hub (ihub) has awarded grants up to £75,000 to 10 projects across Scotland that aim to improve the quality of community based health and social care services.

The ihub’s Improvement Fund was launched in 2016 and provides grants to projects that will have a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of their local communities. The fund enables community based services and organisations, to respond to improvement challenges in their area and deliver project outcomes that have potential for scale and spread across Scotland.

"When working with front line health and social care services we often find individuals and teams with great ideas about how to make improvement that just need a little bit of additional funding to implement. The ihub’s Improvement Fund was developed for exactly these kinds of situations.”

Ruth Glassborow, Director of Improvement Support and ihub

Following success of the 2016-17 funding period, the Improvement Fund is allocating grants for a second round in 2017-18. After a very competitive selection process, ten projects have been awarded covering a variety of topics and geographical areas. The funds awarded range from £5,000 to £75,000.

“The Improvement Fund received an overwhelming 131 Expressions of Interest from a variety of organisations and, with difficulty, we narrowed this down to 15 applications in the final stage. Thank you to all of those that took the time to apply and many congratulations to the awarded project teams. We look forward to sharing the learning from these projects across the ihub and its partners.”

Christine Owen, Improvement Advisor, ihub
