Safety Principles in Mental Health were developed in 2016 for Adult in-patient units. They have now been updated and there are four principles which were relaunched February 2019. They are a group of processes, tools or techniques that if used reliably provide opportunities to reduce harm for patients.
These principles can be applied to new areas of mental health care such as CAMHS, Perinatal Mental Health Services, Learning and Intellectual Disabilities, and Older People's Mental Health Services.
We also encourage adult inpatient wards not currently engaged with SPSP-MH to attend.
The aims of this event are to:
- Develop networks with individuals in other NHS Boards working on the same issues
- Attend interactive workshop sessions focused on implementing the Safety Principles in Mental Health into a range of settings, participants given the opportunity to feedback on the discussions
- Quality Improvement Methodology session which will focus on practical, hands on learning that will enable testing and implementation of the Safety Principles in Mental Health
