Capturing patient wellbeing and experience virtually

Delays to treatments due to COVID-19 can greatly affect patients’ wellbeing. To monitor the wellbeing and quality of life of cancer patients whose surgeries had been delayed as a result of COVID-19, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHS GGC) are extending the use of the ‘My Clinical Outcomes’ (MCO) platform to use patient-reported outcome measurements (PROMs) and patient-reported experience measurements (PREMs) across multiple cancer services. Previously this was being piloted by the GGC Gynaecological Cancer Service.

By using a web platform such as My Clinical Outcomes, which is currently available and free to all cancer teams across the 14 health boards and three cancer networks in Scotland, teams are able to collect and analyse data quickly at any point of a patient’s care journey. The NHS GGC’s eHealth Recovery Plan provides further information and the My Clinical Outcomes website outlines how other interested cancer teams can get in touch to discuss how they can create their own approach.
