Join the Access QI collaborative

We are open to applications from Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), Gynaecology and Urology services to join the Access QI collaborative.

By joining Access QI, ENT, Gynaecology and Urology services will gain access to:

  • a QI toolkit tailored for improving access  
  • learning sessions and to enable peer to peer learning from services in other NHS boards 
  • speciality project surgeries to support the delivery of a QI project to improve waiting times  
  • one to one team coaching to share progress and problem solve  
  • QI coaches and analysts will gain access to training modules that will develop and deepen their skills, knowledge and confidence to support participating teams, and  
  • support to write and share your improvement project, for example, in a case study supported with data.

 

Joining criteria

ENT, Gynaecology and Urology services are asked to meet four joining criteria to ensure they have the conditions for change to successfully deliver sustainable improvements in waiting times. They are:

Criteria 1: The project must be delivered as a team, see full roles and responsibilities for more information. Each team should consist of:   

  • a project team lead 
  • an operational manager  
  • up to four staff from the specialty (medical, nursing, AHP, pharmacy, admin etc.)  
  • a QI coach (someone with national or local QI training), and  
  • an analyst (someone who can access and analyse data on service demand, activity and waiting lists). 

Criteria 2: Team members have time to participate in the national collaborative activities and deliver the local improvement project.   

Criteria 3: Team are from an NHS Scotland ENT, Gynaecology and Urology elective care specialty (diagnostic, outpatients or inpatients). 

Criteria 4: There is organisational support from your NHS board to join the collaborative (QI lead, lead for waiting times performance).

Application process

  1. Before applying please read the Access QI recruitment information pack 
  2. Each team must first agree participation from within your NHS board (QI lead and the lead for waiting times performance).  
  3. All sections of the collaborative application form must be fully completed, please ensure that all participating members agree to activities and outputs outlined in the Access QI recruitment information pack
  4. Each collaborative application form must be signed off by a QI lead and the lead for waiting times performance.  
  5. Completed forms should be submitted to the Access QI team at his.accessqi@nhs.scot with the subject heading ‘Access QI collaborative application’
