Capacity building programme

NHS Education for Scotland are leading the Access QI programme that builds QI capacity to improve access. We are doing this by:

  • Using Flow Coaching as an approach to developing QI practitioners for Access. This work contains teams from eight NHS boards and started in September 2019. It was paused in March 2020 due to COVID-19 and restarted at the end of August 2020. National delivery of the flow coaching course is being adapted to be delivered virtually.
  • Updating the QI Zone with generic resources that support QI practitioners adapt their expertise to improving access, including guidance on System Flow.
  • Reviewing the content of national QI capacity building courses such as Scottish Improvement Leader (ScIL) and the Scottish Quality and Safety (SQS) Fellowship Programme to update them with more content on applying QI skills to improving access. You can find more information about joining a national learning programme from the NHS Education for Scotland website.
