Herbert Protocol National Launch
We were delighted to host, on behalf of a multi-agency partnership, including Police Scotland, a webinar to launch the Herbert Protocol in Scotland on 1 September 2021. Below is the recording of the webinar along with the slides and a flash report with further useful information:
What is the Herbert Protocol?
The protocol is a form which family members or carers complete for a person living with dementia who may be at risk of going missing. The form is available to download from Police Scotland’s Herbert Protocol webpage. It provides personal details, medical history, significant locations and information about any previous incidents of going missing.
The protocol can be printed out and stored in a safe, easily accessible place in the person’s home or kept by a family member electronically. This enables police officers to quickly obtain vital information about vulnerable people who have been reported missing.
Further resources
- A communications toolkit with suggested news release, social media content and video clips of a case study.
- The Herbert Protocol logo for use on social media and all promotional material.
- An information presentation template for use with groups who would like to know more about the Herbert Protocol and Purple Alert.
