Housing and Dementia Practice Framework

There are around 90,000 people in Scotland currently living with dementia, and this number is expected to increase significantly as our population continues to age. Ensuring that the housing needs of people living with dementia are met is critical given that the an estimated 65% of people living with dementia are living in their own home.

We have been working with CIH Scotland and Alzheimer Scotland to develop the Housing and Dementia Practice Framework. The Framework is a practical tool which has been built to assist housing organisations to capture and improve by self-assessment what they are doing to support people living with dementia and their carers.

The Framework is built around five outcomes which are underpinned by eleven practical commitments, all have been been been developed in partnership with housing organisations and people living with dementia to support life at home.
