Using the Ladder of Co-production in the New Models for Learning Disability Day Supports Collaborative:
What is the Ladder of Co-production?
The Ladder of Co-production was produced by the National Co-production Advisory Group at Think Local Act Personal (TLAP), building on previous work by Sherry Arnstein (1969). Each rung on the ladder represents a shift in the relationship between an organisation and its stakeholders.
What have we learned so far?
Teams had a wealth of experience engaging stakeholder groups, but described challenges engaging with people using services, their families and unpaid carers in a deeper and more frequent manner (corresponding to higher ‘rungs’ on the Ladder). COVID-19 has resulted in increased challenges related to engagement.
