Using the Scottish Approach to Service design in the New Models for Learning Disability Day Supports Collaborative:
What is the Scottish Approach to Service Design?
The Scottish Approach to Service Design is a framework for designing public services. It is based on a set of principles that help to involve and empower users, and can be visualised using the Double Diamond (see below). The framework emphasises the importance of taking time to understand the problem before designing solutions. Additional information related to the Scottish Approach to Service Design is available in a Digital Office blog post, and a guide on the Double Diamond, by Design Council.
What have we learned so far?
Participating teams mostly described their progress within the ‘Discover’ phase of the Approach. Others reflected that they might be further on, but saw value in re-visiting this earlier phase in order to reconsider assumptions.
