ITU information boards make unfamiliar equipment less daunting | from NHS Borders

Seeing a person in an intensive treatment unit (ITU) can be scary and intimidating with all of the equipment around the person. NHS Borders has been helping families, non-ITU staff and people receiving care understand the equipment to help them feel more comfortable in that environment.

They created an information board that provides readers with an understanding of the bedside equipment that monitors and supports ITU patients. This was funded by 'The Difference', the official NHS Borders fundraising charity.

This helps provide compassionate care as it encourages people to ask questions and stimulates a conversation as staff can refer to it easily when providing information to colleagues or a person's family.
