NHS Near Me
In a major initiative to support frontline health care services to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, HIS colleagues have supported the roll out of NHS Near Me to maternity and paediatric services.
NHS Near Me is a video consulting platform, enabling digital communication between patients and healthcare staff. It is designed to support the reduction of physical interactions and help reduce the spread of COVID-19 while enabling the delivery of vital healthcare.
To learn about the successes and challenges the maternity and paediatric communities have experienced so far in implementing NHS Near Me, a number of virtual sessions have been hosted via Microsoft Teams and WebEx.
Supporting the use of NHS Near Me
How technology is helping to shape the future of maternity services
28 May 2020
During this WebEx session we discussed how NHS boards make best use of the system to improve access for women during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
With a focus on the use of NHS Near Me in maternity services, this session supported staff by:
- understanding the opportunity that NHS Near Me offers to improve access for women across Scotland
- sharing top tips from boards who have used NHS Near Me in maternity services, and
- sharing learning on common pitfalls and how they have been addressed.
Supporting home monitoring for pregnant women
8 June 2020
The COVID-19 pandemic has required the NHS to urgently consider self-monitoring of BP at home by pregnant women in order to safely reduce the number of face-to-face consultations for pregnant and postnatal women.
Self-monitoring of BP at home by pregnant women can either be used to replace measurement of blood pressure by a healthcare professional on the day of a scheduled clinic (i.e. intermittently) or can be done routinely and more frequently by pregnant women (e.g. daily or weekly) in addition to usual care.
This WebEx allowed us to hear from boards who were in the early stages of testing the processes involved in implementing home monitoring for blood pressure and urine analysis for pregnant women in their areas.
Supporting home monitoring for pregnant women - all share, all learn
29 June 2020
At our introductory Webinar on Monday 8th June, the attendees agreed it would be useful for Maternity Services staff across Scotland to continue to share challenges and successes with implementing home monitoring for pregnant women.
This recording of our follow-up Webinar includes updates from NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, NHS Tayside, Scottish Government and the use of the Florence system. We also heard from NHS Grampian and NHS Highland who are getting started with their journey of implementing home monitoring to pregnant women in their Board areas.
