Acute Prescribing Toolkit – available now

We have developed an Acute Prescribing toolkit as part of the Scottish Patient Safety Programme (SPSP). The toolkit contains resources to help primary care multidisciplinary teams safely improve their acute prescribing processes.

The main benefits of the toolkit include:

  • helping teams to understand their prescribing system to identify change ideas to improving efficiency and effectiveness
  • reducing GP practice and pharmacotherapy staff workload, and
  • helping to improve patient safety and reduce harm.

The toolkit was developed and tested in partnership with 75 GP practices, including pharmacotherapy services, from across Scotland and brings together national, ihub and locally developed resources.

Listen to Dr Rebecca Green explain how resources, available in the toolkit, helped to reduce acute prescriptions in her practice.
