The New Models for Learning Disability Day Support Collaborative hosted a National Learning Event in September to further explore how a service design approach can support person-centred design of adult learning disability day services.

In this event we examined how user journey mapping can build empathy a better understanding of the experiences of people who access services.

We also hosted a presentation from South Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership on their League of Champions user-led group and how they supported the development of South Ayrshire learning disability strategy.

Participants and Collaborative teams highlighted:

  • The importance of user involvement in designing service pathways
  • The impact of using user journey mapping to capture and understand peoples experiences
  • The role of user involvement in leading and developing meaningful strategy
