We are recruiting NHS boards in Scotland to join a new collaborative that supports clinical, care and finance teams to use quality improvement (QI) methods that combine cost and quality data at a team level.
With our new Value Management Collaborative, we aim to deliver improved patient outcomes, experience and value by testing and spreading an innovative model developed by NHS Highland in partnership with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI).
The NHS Highland teams have shown improvements relating to productivity, finance and quality. These include:
- 13% reduction in catheterisation laboratory costs per patient per week,
- 30% increase in the number of respiratory inpatients seen per week, and
- 20% reduction in patient falls compared with non-participating teams.
The Value Management Collaborative is led by the ihub. We're partnering with NHS Education for Scotland (NES) and the IHI.
All participating NHS boards are required to develop and deliver a local value management learning network to test and spread the value management approach, as well as share their implementation progress and learning within the national collaborative process.
