Arriving at every GP Dispensing practice in Scotland this week is a Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) Toolkit. The toolkits have been designed specifically for Dispensing GP Practices and contain resources which will help reduce patient harm from NSAIDs.

 NSAIDs are associated with more emergency hospital admissions than any other class of medicine and this toolkit aims to make a real difference to patients’ health.

The toolkit will support quality improvement in Dispensing practices and will help provide key safety messages to patients whenever NSAIDs are prescribed and dispensed.

The toolkit includes the Communication Care Bundle Guide which provides guidance needed to use the resources and supports data collection to track progress.

Last year, every community pharmacy in Scotland received an NSAIDs Toolkit and following testing this has been adapted specifically for GP Dispensing Practices in order to the spread these resources to new areas.
