Strategic Planning in Health and Social Care

New database of strategic planning online resources

We are excited to bring to your attention the Strategic Planning in Health and Social Care online resource

Strategic planners have a unique world view that plays a vital role in the planning and development of health and social care services and support. They take a whole system approach, analysing emerging trends and population needs to ensure changes address future needs and challenges.

This online resource aims to provide insight, support, tools, and worked examples for strategic planning teams across NHS boards and Health and Social Care Partnerships. The resource sits within our work on the Scottish Approach to Change - as part of quality planning. The Scottish Approach to Change will provide a practical, coherent approach to change. It will articulate the steps that are needed for successful change to happen and the essentials that underpin the change process.

This Strategic Planning resource is split into three sections:

Strategic Planning Role: Describing good planning and core strategic planning skills and competencies.

Strategic Planning Thinking: Resources and short insight pieces designed to build and foster strategic planning thinking within teams and organisations.

Resource Directory: A range of strategic planning tools and approaches illustrated through worked examples that can be drawn on to inform local strategic planning analysis.

You are welcome to share this resource with colleagues and can contact the team with any comments or feedback at his.transformationalsystemchange@nhs.scot
