Run your huddles effectively
There are a range of simple resources you can access on this page to support you to run your weekly huddle effectively.
Huddle example video
The huddle video is an animated example of a huddle being run, and includes information on the key areas that you should aim to cover within your 15 minute weekly huddle.
Huddle script
The huddle script is a sample script which includes why the huddle is important, how it should be run, and the areas that should be focused on during the huddle, afterwards as part of a deeper dive and during any coaching sessions.
Using a huddle script ensures a consistent approach to the huddle agenda and ensures a good flow is maintained.
Huddle checklist
The huddle checklist will support you to track whether aspects of the huddle have been completed before, during and after the allocated huddle time. It supports good practice for huddle management by ensuring all areas of Value Management are incorporated into the huddle and team discussion.
Top tips
- Huddle as soon as you start Value Management. Teams that start huddles early in Value Management find it useful in building knowledge, engagement and momentum.
- These huddles should take place once per week, at the same time each week and follow a standard agenda.
- Pre work should take place, including the person leading the huddle assigning each domain in the visual management board to a lead.
- Ensure your visual management board is visible during the huddle.
- Involve leaders and extended team members in the huddles as much as possible.
- Encourage the team to make the huddle fun, whatever that means in their context and with their personalities.
