Enabling emotional connections – the Knitted Hearts appeal | Nationwide across UK
Creativity has helped staff identify a way to provide patients and families with a comforting link to their loved one, particularly where it has not been possible for family to be present and provide comfort in the final hours of life.
A national appeal has been launched asking for people to help knit duplicate hearts, one for the patient and the other for their emergency contact.
Through networks and social media anyone may post a message with details such as:
- Patterns
- Colour and size stipulations: no black
- Details for sending them (in a sealed zip lock bag, with the DATE AND TIME SEALED on them, for 72 hours at least, before posting. This is to allow for the virus to become inactive)
- An address for posting
