Chaplaincy support for patients and their families | from NHS Ayrshire and Arran and NHS Barts Health Trust

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, faith leaders are sadly not able to attend hospital patients’ bedsides, even when they're critically ill.

In response, NHS Ayrshire and Arran's Lead Chaplain has created prayer videos for patients, which staff can play for patients on wards’ mobile devices. There are videos for Muslim, Roman Catholic, Church of Scotland and Baptist faiths.

Meanwhile, NHS Barts Health Trust has also addressed this sensitive issue with a 24/7 chaplaincy switchboard for Muslim, Jewish, Roman Catholic and Church of England or Christian faiths. The team also offers emotional and spiritual support to people of no particular faith. Using iPads, chaplains are available for video calls with patients or their loved ones, and they support staff too.
