Digital flashcards break through the PPE barrier | from Cardmedic, UK

Founded by anaesthetist Rachael Grimaldi from Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust, Cardmedic is a digital tool to help staff ask critically ill or deaf COVID-19 patients important questions.

The information is presented on digital flashcards shown on a phone, tablet or computer at the bedside.

Cardmedic is free to download and, as of 25 April 2020, had been accessed by over 8,000 users in NHS trusts and hospitals worldwide. The tool is available in 10 languages and also includes read aloud options for people who are blind or too unwell to read.

The work was supported by the UK government Department for International Trade and support connecting to local businesses.
