Supporting physical activity remotely | from Aberdeen Health and Social Care Partnership

The Community Adult Assessment and Rehabilitation Service normally deliver a number of exercise classes that were of both physical and social benefit to many older people.

However, as people are having to isolate themselves, the team has developed a way of providing support remotely.

They maintained telephone contact with those isolating. Alongside this contact, they hand delivered information packs with information about online resources providing appropriate exercises, information about keeping active, psychological wellbeing and useful phone contacts, as well as paper based exercises for those without internet access.

For many, they were able to post the pack through the letterbox and speak briefly through the window to participants. They provided a contact number to get in touch should a participant deteriorate.

"we hope that they will come out the other side of this pandemic having maintained their fitness, strength and balance and without feeling they have been abandoned by our services."
